PROGRAMME 2006/2007
21st October 2006
The abandoned zone
video/sound performance exhibition
curated
by Antonio Manfredi.
Showing of the documentary
“Crossing a painted Vesuvius”,
a cinematographic LDF Production, directed by Luciano De
Fraia.
A trip through a decayed, wounded, outraged land. A passage
in search of dreams and hopes, fears and contradictions. A
universe observed with the eyes of artists, curators,
musicians. A video filmed among the best as well as among
the worst urban suburbs. In restored or forever abandoned
areas.
A contamination between art and music, a turnabout from what
has already been seen.
Saturday, October the 21st: showing of the documentary,
artists' performances and concert of the bands authors of
the soundtracks for the video.
This travelling exhibition wants to be a message of peace
and solidarity of 182 artists from 70 countries. It will be
presented at the Kahf Gallery of the Bethlehem
International Center in July, in Cologne/Germany
in October, at the Museo Arte Contemporaneo (MAC) of
Santa Fe/Argentina at the beginning of December, and
will have its last stage the 16th of December
2006 at the Casoria Contemporary Art Museum, which will
receive the whole collection of the works presented.
Bethlehem was a symbol of peace of the three most important
religions of the world for more than 2000 years. However,
since some time, Bethlehem and the whole Holy Land on the
Westbank are vanishing behind a huge wall. With their
multimedia, audio, video, photographic, creative writing and
visual poetry works the artists taking part in the
exhibition overcome symbolically this wall and the conflicts
between Israel and Palestine, thus becoming messengers of
peace.
The show does not only transport a message of solidarity,
but also the idea of a free and independent culture without
borders. The use of New Media technology represents,
moreover, a symbol for a new era for solving conflicts via
communication.

India Revealed
Pictures, photographs, installations, videos… and more.
Twenty Indian artists in a photograph/project by Antonio
Manfredi
The exhibition "India Revealed" is fruit of a trip in a
magic and contradictory country, in search of the emerging
Indian artists. A journey among the studies, the houses and
the personal legends of twenty Indian artists who tell
themselves in front of Antonio Manfredi's lens, presenting
the works they created for the exhibition at the Casoria
Contemporary Art Museum.
A journey that does not stop at the surface of the being an
artist both in East and West, but that has the ambitious aim
to analyse in depth the fundamental role of a contemporary
artist, that is not only that of "making visible what is
invisible", but also of calling the attention to subjects
which nobody would question and truths which nobody would
claim.
An introspective and sociologic research that moves from the
suburbs of Naples and reaches a mystics and timeless land.
