Sunday
march the 7th at 6.30pm CAM museum will present the
exhibition POLITIK | art inside/outside the
system inside CAM’s Factory. The event
proposes some works of artists who polemically expressed
to an ideology or to the institutions using several
languages. The exhibited works play with the materials
and through Pop metaphors pose questions on the icons of
politics.
In the exhibition patchwork flags stand out, witnessing
the pain suffered by people under dictatorship,
meanwhile anguish filter from the faces of those who
fought to say the truth and dissolved into the oblivion,
dimmed by the strength of the political power. The head
of Marx breaks into a window shop on sale, the mirror of
free circulation of goods, breaking once again its
wholesome. The gay kiss, work censured and never
exhibited at Milan at the exhibition on Art and
homosexuality, stays on the background of the Italian
flag, becoming the political scenario for homosexual
affirmation. Another installation plays a voice on the
Apology by Socrates, the well-known apology of the
philosopher against the accuses of contest to divine
law, while an image of our Prime Minister complaisantly
smiles at the words the Greek uttered for his defence. A
provocation towards the postures of the men of power is
not missing, from the parades on success to the unlikely
remarkable and empty companions. Irony takes shape in a
video in which the artist goes around the streets of the
city with a luxury car weaving to the passers-by who
ignore him, as if he were a president. Portraits of the
biggest western nations are not missing, too, the
powerful, carrying with them, together with the hope of
a political improvement, a past of bloodshed colonial
conquests.
